What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics; It is a department of dentistry that diagnoses and treats these disorders when disorders occur for various reasons during the development of teeth and jaws.
Orthodontist; It is called a person who has 4 more years of specialization training on dentistry. Orthodontics can be applied to individuals at an early age, as well as to individuals of advanced age.
Why is Orthodontic Treatment Performed?
Orthodontic treatments is a branch of dentistry that is increasing in popularity today. Seeing orthodontic treatment not only makes the person smile more confidently, but also prevents jaw joint problems that may occur in the future.
To list the reasons why orthodontic treatment is seen and who may need orthodontic treatment;
-
Individuals with crooked teeth
-
Individuals with skeletal problems in jaw development as described by us dentists. (This may be due to jaw stenosis or advanced jaw development)
-
Individuals with congenital missing teeth or impacted teeth
-
Individuals who experience interdental spaces when they close their upper and lower teeth
-
Individuals with permanent interdental spaces (diastema)
-
Individuals with deep bite where the upper front teeth cover the lower front teeth too much
-
They can be listed as individuals with speech disorders.
These listed items can be diversified and derived. Orthodontic treatment has two main purposes. The first is to achieve aesthetic and self-confident smiles, and the second is to prevent jaw joint problems that may occur in later ages.

Why Do Teeth Have Crowding?
The primary cause of crowding in the teeth is hereditary factors. Our teeth and jaws are formed by genes from our parents. Just like our other building blocks in our body.
For example, if a tooth structure smaller than the mother and a jaw structure larger than the father are carried by genes, in this case, there will be a gap between the teeth, not a crowding in the teeth of the person.
Or, if the tooth structure larger than the father is inherited from the mother and the jaw structure is hereditary, the teeth in the jaw will become crowded. For this reason, the gene has an important place in tooth crowding.
As a secondary factor; are habits such as pacifier use and thumb sucking during infancy and childhood. If these habits cannot be abandoned by the parents, deformations can be seen in both teeth and jaws.

How Is Orthodontic Treatment Done?
-
If the treatment options that can be offered to individuals who will receive orthodontic treatment are to be examined under two main headings, the first of them is wired orthodontic treatment with braces and the second is transparent plaque, or orthodontic treatment, which is called transparent braces.
Wired Orthodontic (Braces) Treatment
Removable Orthodontic Apparatus:
Removable orthodontic appliances are the type of treatment applied if the problem of jaw stenosis is detected in individuals in the mixed dentition period (between 7-11 years of age). This form of treatment is called first phase orthodontic treatment.
With this treatment, jaw development is supported. After the desired jaw development is supported and all permanent teeth have erupted, the necessary second phase treatments are started.
Fixed Orthodontic Apparatus:
Removable orthodontic appliances are the type of treatment applied if the problem of jaw stenosis is detected in individuals in the mixed dentition period (between 7-11 years of age). This form of treatment is called first phase orthodontic treatment.
With this treatment, jaw development is supported. After the desired jaw development is supported and all permanent teeth have erupted, the necessary second phase treatments are started.
Wireless Orthodontic Treatments, Invisalign Treatment - Clear Plaque Treatment
The aesthetic expectations of our patients are increasing day by day and they do not want wires to appear in their mouths while smiling. For this reason, the developed clear aligner technology has also enabled the start of a new era in orthodontic treatment.
With wireless (transparent plaque) orthodontic treatments, crowding in the teeth can be corrected, as well as jaw stenosis problems. The advantage of clear aligner treatment is that the final state of the treatment can be shown to our patients at the beginning of the treatment with the wireless (transparent aligner) orthodontic treatment. Transparent plaques are systems that are produced individually and must be in the mouth for 22 hours a day. Although the cost seems to be a disadvantage compared to wired orthodontic treatments, it is certain that it is much more comfortable.

What Should Be Done for Bracket Care, Braces Cleaning and Mouth Cleaning?
It is necessary to pay more attention to oral hygiene than ever before during orthodontic treatment. If enough attention is not paid to oral hygiene due to the apparatus placed outside the mouth, calculus accumulation in the teeth and staining on the tooth surfaces may occur. To better maintain oral hygiene;
-
Teeth should be brushed for 2 minutes 2 times a day.
-
Interface brushes and special dental floss should be used.
-
Rechargeable special devices known as mouthwash should be used.
-
Mouthwashes should be used.
What Should Be Considered During the Treatment Process?
When the wires are first inserted, there will be a feeling of fullness in the mouth. This situation can sometimes hurt the cheeks of the patients with the attached brackets and wires. In such a situation, the orthodontist gives orthodontic waxes that the patients can easily place on the brackets and wires. Again, when wire therapy is started, there may be pain in the first few days, although not in every patient. In such a situation, painkillers can be used in line with the recommendations of your orthodontist and dentist.
Individuals should not consume hard and sugary foods as much as possible from the session in which the braces are attached to the patient. Consumption of hard food can damage the braces and the brackets attached to the tooth surface and cause the brackets to break off from the dream surface. Likewise, consuming sugary, sticky foods causes a similar effect.
Our patients should stay away from chips and acidic food consumption. If acidic foods and cariogenic foods are consumed, tooth decay may occur.
Patient-doctor coordination is very important. Appointments must be arrived on time. If the appointments are not made on time, the treatment period will be extended and the desired effectiveness will not be seen. For this reason, especially our pediatric patients should be made more aware by their families and physicians.
During orthodontic treatment, the physician may want patients to use some special elastics or special apparatus. In this case, the use of these apparatuses by the patients facilitates the correct progress of the treatment.

How Many Sessions Does Laminated Teeth Veneer Process Take? The production of porcelain leaf teeth is completed with 2-3 sessions and a total period of 5-7 days after all oral care of the patients. In the first session, preparations are made, the teeth are made suitable for impression taking, and if necessary, temporary teeth are made after the impression taking process. At the second appointment, the compatibility of the gums and teeth is checked. In the next session or sessions, it is presented to the patient's taste and if our patients are satisfied with the procedure, the laminated teeth are permanently attached with special adhesives.

Does Laminate Tooth Veneer Fall Off After Adhering? There are special resin-based adhesives produced specifically for porcelain laminated teeth, and since the porcelain laminates are bonded with these special adhesives, it is not very common for porcelain laminates to decimate. However, if the dentist did not comply with the bonding procedure, if saliva or water came to the tooth surface during bonding, then the adhesive does not provide a complete adhesion to the tooth surface. In this case, it causes the laminate to come off early. Again, a factor originating from the physician is the incomplete compatibility of the tooth and the laminate. If there is such a situation, the right thing should be to put the work done by the physician to the top and produce the laminated teeth again. However, if this is not treated properly, unfortunately, laminates may fall in the early period. In patients who do not provide good oral hygiene or consume acidic foods, or when foods that should not be consumed are consumed, there may be fractures or falls in the laminates. Individuals who grind their teeth should be treated with a dental plaque and botox.

What is the Difference Between Zircon Dental Veneer and Laminated Veneer? The biggest difference between zirconia veneer and porcelain laminated leaf veneer is the amount of tooth hard tissue reduction applied to the tooth. In zirconia crowns, 0.9-2 mm of tooth hard tissue is removed from all surfaces of the tooth, while in porcelain laminated teeth, this ratio is possible with a maximum of 0.3-0.6 mm of hard tissue reduction from one surface of the tooth.
